Leigh Lezark
At Christian Siriano's Birthday, Talk of Misshapes Past and Present
At his birthday party Tuesday evening, Project Runway winner and increasingly legitimate designer Christian Siriano was in high spirits as he made his way around Citrine on West 21st St., pausing for impromptu dance-offs with friends and later, grinning over platters of cupcakes festooned with sparklers. (The Daily Transom didn't manage to sample one, but they looked good.)
Post-dessert, we asked Mr. Siriano if he had any special goals for the evening.
"To have a fabulous party with every fabulous fashionista."
Did he feel old?
"No! I’m 23! I feel young."
At what age, we wondered, might be start to feel the weight of mortality?
"Never, I don’t think. read more »
The Peacocks of Paris Fashion Week
Now that New York Fashion Week is but a distant memory, the front rows of Paris Fashion Week—which ends Oct. 5—are crowded with editors, socialites and actresses. At the Balmain show, Derek Blasberg sat alongside Milla Jovovich and Paul Anderson. French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld and her daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld attended the Christian Dior Spring 2009 show, and Tinsley Mortimer made an appearance at Christian Lacroix. Even the ubiquitous Leigh Lezark is over there posing for photos!
(Note to Ms. Lezark: Stick to that whole black-only thing; the hot pink tutu dress is a little much.)

Bijou Phillips Says Sarah Palin Wears Wrangler Jeans
The Daily Transom felt a bit odd ascending to the penthouse at Highbar to celebrate the launch of a new ad campaign for DOW XLA-a new material that's supposed to be a better choice to put in denim than Lycra and Spandex-featuring Bijou Phillips. After all, now is not exactly the time to think about purchasing premium denim. (To add insult to stock-plunging injury, we could actually see the ill-fated Lehman Brothers' headquarters from the rooftop lounge.) In honor of our fallen i-bankers, we donned somber apparel and figured we'd get some tips from some of New York's most sartorially savvy on how to look like more when you're working with (sigh) less.
As the MisShapes DJ'ed for the eclectic crowed of fedora'ed hipsters and fashion editors, a sullen Leigh Lezark - who said she was feeling under the weather (too much partying during Fashion Week, perhaps?) - advised, "Don't buy...I've been digging old crap out of my closet and trying not to buy unnecessary stuff." read more »
Leigh Lezark Was Everywhere During Fashion Week
Fashion Week—which ended Friday, Sept. 12, after eight full days and nights of parties, shows, and flashbulbs—has historically been an excellent opportunity for celebrities (and we use this term lightly) to get themselves photographed a whole lot over the course of a rather short period of time. Of course, designers rely on celebrities to show up at their shows to bring buzz (and photographers); just witness the mayhem that ensued when Jennifer Lopez showed up at Marc Jacobs's show. And indeed, some celebrities really are close friends with the designers whose shows they come to. Which is fine!
But canny sub-A-list celebs also know that Fashion Week can help raise their profile, if briefly; we saw so many photos of actresses like Michelle Trachtenberg, Joy Bryant, Jessica Szohr, Perrey Reeves, and Zoe Saldana over the last couple of weeks that it seems a bit of a stretch to think that they were truly, genuinely interested in all the fashion coming down the runways. read more »
