DENVER—"There's my girl!" Chevy Chase bellowed as Madeline Albright walked into the backroom of the Vanity Fair-Google party on Thursday, August 28. The towering comedian, who was clad in a blazer, T-shirt and jeans, bent down to embrace his old friend. They discussed plans to get together—Mr. Chase promising an e-mail from "his people"—mugged for the cameras, and agreed that Barack Obama had nailed his speech. "If we're seen together, you're in trouble," joked the funnyman.

After a hearty laugh, conversation returned to the speech. Ms. Albright said that while the presidential candidate is incredibly charming in person, she was also pleased with the "diplomacy" of the speech.  read more »

Fran Drescher did not look out of place on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Cipriani on 42nd Street in her black feathered Max Azaria dress and Jimmy Choo shoes, among the oversized balloons, jugglers, painted mimes toting parasols, professional bubble-blowers and very popular bartenders.She was there as the hostess of a fund-raiser for H.E.L.P., an organization that benefits disadvantaged children.  read more »

The Scarlett Johansson vehicle The Nanny Diaries failed to crack the top five movies in the country with a paltry $7.8 million take over the weekend. In Manhattan, where the film takes place, the film did somewhat better, averaging close to $20,000 per theater and raking in enough to secure the fourth slot on the city’s top-ten list.  read more »
