Watch Out! Charlize Theron Ordered to Pay for Wearing Dior Instead of Raymond Weil

Fancy watch hoarder Charlize Theron will have to pay luxury watchmaker Raymond Weil for violating a $3 million endorsement deal with the designer by wearing a Dior watch in public, a Manhattan judge has ruled, according to the New York Post.

Last week, Daily Transom stumbled on the court documents on The Smoking Gun that indicated this wasn't the first time the actress has used her popularity in the press to expand her jewelry collection.

From the court filings:

She also was paid $200,000 by Chopard to wear its jewels to the 2006 Oscars and received another $50,000 from the Swiss firm for wearing its gems to that year's BAFTA awards in London.

Charlize Theron Sued for Wearing the Wrong Watch

Being Charlize Theron is a lot more complicated than one might expect! The Smoking Gun has generously provided the world with an excerpt from the court filings associated with a lawsuit brought against Ms. Theron by ultra-fancy watch purveyor Raymond Weil, who has accused her of violating an 2005 endorsement agreement by sporting a Dior timepiece in public.

To make matters worse, a photo of the transgression was printed in The Tourneau Times (which appears to be some kind of trade magazine/advertising sheet produced by Tourneau). Of course, these cuckoldish incidents are never simple, as Ms. Theron's team quickly pointed out. Apparently, in the very same issue of this watch-related publication, Raymond Weil ran a print ad featuring model Thema Thormasdittor, which the actress's lawyers argue was also a breach of contract.  read more »

Russian Vogue's Aliona Doletskaya was reportedly introduced as "the next editor of American Vogue" at an event in Moscow. A spokesman for the still-Anna Wintour-helmed operation responded: "These variations are nothing unusual for magazine publishing, and we have the greatest admiration for every editor in chief of all the international Vogues." The Fashion Industry Wants a Piece of Olympics Pie

Ralph Lauren's outfits for the Olympics.

It's the most fashionable Olympics ever! The fashion industry--usually more well known for lack of nutrition than for athleticism--is now angling for a piece of the Beijing Games. Ralph Lauren outfitted the entire U.S. team for both the opening and closing ceremonies; Lucy Liu posed for an "Olympics"-themed spread in Harper's Bazaar in which she boxed, shot arrows, and weight-lifted handbags in evening gowns; on this week's episode of Project Runway, contestants designed outfits for the American team to wear during the opening ceremonies. And today, WWD reported that Armani will "dress" the blond South African swimmer and Charlize Theron dopplegänger Charlene Wittstock, main squeeze of Prince Albert of Monaco, for various Olympic-related events (not including her, you know, actual Olympic events).  read more »

Blonde ambition: Charlize Theron and AnnaSophia Robb.

“Within the first 15 pages of the script, my character does something so horrible and so unforgivable,” said Charlize Theron, curled up on a plushy couch at the Regency Hotel. She was discussing her role as Joleen, a misguided young mother who leaves her 11-year-old daughter to hit the road with a boyfriend—one of many—in her new film, Sleepwalking. “It’s very acceptable for a man to go and play someone, a very flawed and conflicted character, who makes horrible mistakes. That’s okay, society accepts that. But I think we haven’t really and truly fully investigated female complexities in film. … We still very much live in a Madonna-whore complex.”  read more »

Charlize Hits The Road With Viggo

Charlize Theron might have to draw on some of her previous Aeon Flux talents to fight the cannibals with Viggo Mortensen in the bigscreen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's bestselling novel The Road. Her part is small and mostly played in flashback, but Ms. Theron is apparently a big fan of the book and wanted to work with producer Nick Wechsler on the project. They were paired in 2000 for The Yard.  read more »

Charlize Theron's Hollywood Home Breached

One might think that with an outfit of paparazzi following Charlize Theron’s every move, thieves and robbers would steer clear of her well-monitored pad. But as fellow Hollywood leading ladies like Uma Thurman can attest, some people just don’t get it. At least that was the unfortunate case for the 32-year-old Monster star, whose privacy was recently violated in a major way. Police spokesperson Sara Faden has now confirmed that Ms. Theron’s Hollywood-area home was broken into last week. She could not say, however, if any of the Academy Award winner’s possessions had actually been taken. But considering the actress’ sky-high status and innumerable fans, a robbery-less break-in might be creepier than if some Wedgwood and a candle stick or two had been snatched. Amanda Silverman, Ms. Theron’s publicist, had not responded to press inquiries as of yesterday. Ms. Theron’s next film, Bill Maher’s Sleepwalking, opens on March, 14.
