Will Renovations Stave Off Doom for Bungalow 8?
Bungalow 8, the hot nightclub that was, underwent a makeover last month, and photos of the new Bungalow 8 are posted on Guest of Guest. But can anyone tell what's different? And does anyone care?
Once upon a time Bungalow was at the epicenter of the city's nightlife. But in these new photos, there's nary a boldfaced name to be found--let alone the A-list crowd of habitues like Jude Law, Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Bill Clinton, P. Diddy, and George Clooney, who used to frequent the club. read more »
Brideshead Regurgitated! Succulent Buttocks Ripe for Plucking at Gramercy Hotel Plover Party
“I’m happy to say I’ve danced in fountains, I’ve had strawberries and wine and Champagne, I’ve visited places like Brideshead,” said nightlife duchess Amy Sacco. She was on the roof of the Gramercy Park Hotel after a Cinema Society screening of Brideshead Revisited on Tuesday, July 22. “And I’ve had the unrequited love issues, too.”
Former gossip columnist Lloyd Grove recalled watching the Brideshead miniseries in the early 1980s with friends from Yale and being served plovers’ eggs, just like the ones Lady Marchmain sent Sebastian. Literary agent David Kuhn, who was “gay but not out,” watched it at Harvard’s Spee Club, which was “not gay but gay-ish. read more »
Sacco Shockeroo! Golden-Haired Giantess Lacks All-Access Pass to New York Nightlife
Nightlife’s Amy Sacco, the blond, towering tsarina of Lot 61 and Bungalow 8, claims she often gets turned away from rival clubs. “But I just walk away,” Ms. Sacco told the Transom at the Monday, July 14, premiere of The Doorman, a “scripted documentary” about the powerful rulers of that oligarchy known as the meatpacking district, in which she appears along with actor and director Peter Bogdanovich, People’s Revolution flack Kelly Cutrone and photographer Patrick McMullan. “I would never threaten their job,” Ms. Sacco said of the velvet ropes’ guardians. “I feel for them!”
She described how someone seeking entry to one of her exclusive boîtes “told me this elaborate story of how they knew my mother, who lives in Chatham, N. read more »

Amy Sacco Will Be Your 'Lifestyle Director'
We got some skinny on the District, the new luxury (what isn't?) condo in the financial district from Israeli gazillionaire Lev Leviev and nightlife impressario Amy Sacco. The District, set to open at 60 Ann Street in the spring, will offer buyers studios, one- and two-bedrooms starting in the $500s and penthouses starting from a relatively low $1.1 million.
More than that, however, the condo will offer Ms. Sacco as "lifestyle director." In that capacity, the Bungalow 8 owner will provide "the myriad luxury services and facilities which have made her other business ventures such successes amongst the urban cognoscenti."
Also, there's the commutes, which include a:
- 1 cappuccino & croissant walk to work on Wall Street
- $7 taxi to Prada in SoHo
- $8 taxi to Spotted Pig in West Village
- 12 minute ride to The Waverly Inn in Meatpacking District
Tom Ford Fete Features Sacco, Snakeskin, and (Surprise!) Springsteen
Last night, there was a party for artist and photographer Marilyn Minter’s eponymous new coffee-table book at the vault-like Tom Ford boutique on the corner of 70th and Madison Avenue (forgot that Tom Ford, former designer for Gucci, has a boutique? We forgive you).
Think low suede chairs, snakeskin-covered coffee tables, and a disproportionately high number of handsome young men wearing slicked-back hair and very tight pants navigating their way through a cloud of Mr. Ford’s Black Orchid cologne. Champagne, white wine and vodka only—no stains allowed in this joint! read more »

The (New) Globe Gets (Even) More Help From Famous Friends

From The Lord Norman Foster
The supporters of The New Globe Theater--the proposed Castle Williams arts center on Governors Island--already have lots of famous friends. (Moby! Pacino! Amy Sacco! Philip Seymour Hoffman! Moby!!).
But nothing helps like bedding secretive right-wing billionaire Bruce Kovner. The Lincoln Center vice-chairman has joined the board, where he'll rub elbows with the aforementioned celebs while ogling Lord Norman Foster's pretty plans.
And there's more: Lord Ralph Voldemort Fiennes has not only "shared his enthusiasm and insights into theater design over coffee" with the New Globe folks, but has added his name to their list of supporters. read more »
