Spitzers are Fleeting, Seminerios are Forever
Eliot Spitzer's big budget compromise may have been a let-down for people who actually believed that Day One meant that everything was going to change.
But the officials who know Albany best weren't surprised at all.
Take Assemblyman Anthony Seminerio, who has been in the legislature for as long as I've been alive.
"He'll learn," Seminerio told me this week up in Albany.
"The only thing that ever changes in Albany are the faces," he said. "The system stays intact."
More on Seminerio's bracing realism here.

That's why New York City should be the State's capital, not Albany. The Legislature would wither under the scrutiny of the City's press corps.
Seminerio should try being a real democrat, and not a hypocrite to democratic causes. Pushing his family in favored positions, like his daughter's judgeship, is opportunistic. A farce-he's a two facer
All the Assemblyman and State Senators think like the same as that jerk. But only Seminerio is dumb enought to tell a reporter
A round of applause for Seminerio! He's probably the only Democrat left up there standing up for what the Democratic Party should be all about. While the rest cave in to every left wing group out there marching around banging pots and pans, Seminerio is representing his district where people go to work in the morning and pay their taxes. He stood up to Cuomo during the State of the State some 20 years ago and it cost him his leadership post; he stood up to Silver and it cost him his leadership post --- how many other Democrats up there are willing to stand on principle and do that? The fact that some people on this blog are either unwilling or unable to understand how Albany works is a reflection on them, not Tony Seminerio.
Why would anyone bash Tony for telling the truth? The man is one of the only people left in Albany who stands by his beliefs - like them or not - no matter what the polls or the party says. What did he say that was inaccurate? If you want to change Albany you better come to grips with his analysis of the situation because he is right. Don't bury your head in the sand.
