Spotless Mind (not verified) says:

Indeed, Ms. May is a founding member and former President of the Brooklyn Democrats for Change, but the club, under Kevin Peter Carroll's leadership is not now what is was formed to be and most of the progressive members and former members no longer belong to the club or attend meetings. This club has become just the opposite of what it set out to be, that is, another group of rubber stamps for the political machine of Brooklyn. No doubt the vote was engineered to achieve these results. Ms. May has every right to cite her involvement in the founding of this club and past leadership but she will succeed without their support or endorsement because she stands for the change so desperately needed in the Brooklyn political process.
