The Towns-Obama Vote

The Towns-Obama Vote

An interested reader sent in this photograph showing how Representative Ed Towns, a Hillary Clinton supporter who faces a primary challenge this year, has embraced Barack Obama's campaign. The picture was taken this afternoon and is of the building at 203 Ralph Street in Brooklyn, not far from Towns' office.

Towns has lately been trying to demonstrate his association with the campaign, rolling out the endorsements of several central Brooklyn elected officials earlier this week, and noting that they all supported Obama during the primary. Towns needs to avoid a scenario in which the droves of Obama supporters who showed up in February could exact revenge on Towns and other African-American Clinton supporters.

Towns’ Democratic opponent, Kevin Powell, also intends to take advantage of Obama’s coattails, touting the fact that he supported Obama during the primary and employs a number of Obama supporters on his staff.

Obama is officially staying neutral in this race.

Truly pathetic, Ed Towns.

Imagine that...A Democratic incumbent putting up a sign supporting the Democratic nominee for President. I think this wins the un-newsworthy award of the year!

JamiesDish (not verified) says:

Pathetic? So, wait, the Democratic party picks a nominee, and someone who backed the loser ... is forbidden from backing the party nominee?

Wow, you're an idiot. So much for the politics of inclusion. Guess all the words from the Obama camp about trying to unite the party behind a candidate really are just nice words.

Wonder how Obama would feel about Powell bringing such elitist, judgmental ideologues like you onto his thin coattails? Probably why Obama won't touch a Powell endorsement with a 10 foot pole ...

BTW, does Kevin Powell even have an office? I don't see how he could afford the rent anyway. Last I heard, his campaign was 2 months behind on paying their advertising firm (whose ads are craptastic anyway) because they are running low on cash, and Powell thinks fundraising is beneath him.

Just what the folks in Brooklyn are saying ...

PowellsEgo (not verified) says:

Powell is so egotistically he actually has videos out there comparing himself as the next Obama. Give me a fucking break, this guy is the most talentless, egomaniac I have ever met, and he has been kicking, pushing, and biting people for 20 years.

No contest in my mind.

How dare a New York Congressman support a New York senator! The audacity!

Ridiculous (not verified) says:

What's he supposed to have a banner of? Vote McCain? THEY ARE IN THE SAME PARTY!! I'm so sick of hearing this nonsense about NY delegation members getting shit for supporting Hillary for Pres.

Does Powell honestly think that if he were in Towns' shoes that he would have been the only NY congressperson to break ranks and support Obama? It is pretty standard to support the candidate from your home-state. And likewise, once a nominee is chose, it is pretty standard to support the candidate from YOUR OWN PARTY.

Find some real news already, jeeez.

Aiken Blue (not verified) says:

Hehe, yeah, this is unnewsworthy but at least it shows unity within the party. Go Obama! May he be elected. vote for Obama, visit WHYOBAMA08.ORG!!
