Michelle Obama to Address Clinton Women
Another sign of a thaw between the Obama campaign and some of the powerful women who have long been allied with the Clintons: Michelle Obama will speak at a lunch for the National Partnership for Women & Children tomorrow.
The release from the campaign notes that Emily's List founder Ellen Malcolm and Cheryl Mills, who was deputy White House counsel under Bill Clinton, are both on the board of the organization and will be at the event.
Here's the announcement:
Chicago, IL – This Friday, June 20, Michelle Obama, wife of Senator Barack Obama, will speak at the National Partnership for Women & Families 2008 Annual Luncheon. During the luncheon, Michelle Obama will address the unique challenges facing America’s working families.
In addition to Michelle Obama’s participation, program participants include Debra L. Ness (National Partnership President), Ellen Malcolm (Chair of National Partnership’s Board of Directors), Cheryl Mills (Board of Director member), Tammy Edwards (working mother), and Jennifer Hunt (working mother). They will discuss issues ranging from the Family and Medical Leave Act to quality, affordable health care.
The National Partnership for Women & Families is a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy group dedicated to promoting fairness in the workplace, access to quality health care and policies that help women create a balance between work and family responsibilities.

Millions of Democratic (or formerly Democratic) voters will never vote for Obama. The media can downplay the movement and try and dismiss 18 million voters but the results will be clear in November, if not before.

I have heard Emily's list has lost a lot of members and recieved countless negative emails about supporting Obama, especially since their purpose is to promote women, not men. Personally, I was dissapointed they didn't speak out about the treatment Hillary Clinton recieved by the media, Democratic party and DNC.
I wish I could be there to hear Michelle, to get to know her better. Hillary is a courageous and strong democratic politician. I admire her. I also respect her wishes that we support the democratic nominee. I will not betray her, nor our party. I believe that she would be VERY disappointed if those who supported her would go over to the enemy. HILLARY IS A DEMOCRAT.

It's shocking that most of the comments here are from people that were voting for Hilary but now are voting for McCain. You're supposed to be voting for party ideals not your favorite person. Facts are facts, WE NEED A DEMOCRAT IN THE WHITE HOUSE! Keep in mind the president is powerless without the Senate and Congress to validate him. Unless under the current administration you've become a millionaire, can feed your family no problem, pay your mortgage without feeling the burn and drive a Hummer just because you can. I am one of those Democrats (hopefully in the majority) who believes in the policy principles of the party. I also am looking forward to restoring a person of ideas and intelligence to the White House. I am exciting to be voting for Obama, but would have also voted for Hillary. I hope that the outrageous views expressed by some supposed Hillary supporters here are fringe views. From what I have seen personally, I think they are.
One anecdote - I worked as a poll watcher for Obama in Indiana. There was a young man working as a poll watcher for Hillary as well. He was actually in the Obama demographic, as a young African American male; he was there for Hillary b/c his mom wanted him to be (and b/c he was getting paid!) - - however,he stated that he would be glad to vote for Obama as well. A second Hillary poll watcher showed up later that day (she was in a Hillary demographic, white/Hispanic late 40s female); she said she would also be glad to vote for Obama. I believe those two good sensible people I met are in the majority of Democrats. It was great to get excited about the primary, and clearly there were low blows on both sides. But, we had a hard fight because we Democrats had so many good candidates. Now, let's get together and support a smart, caring individual with an independently successful wife, whom he respects, rather than another silver spoon boy (which is what McCain clearly is and always has been) with a "lovely" wife who he himself seems to think is best suited to wet t-shirt contests!
