Fox News' Megyn Kelly on the Pleasures of Reporting Live From the Convention Floor

"I have a real affinity for the folks from Guam," said Megyn Kelly.
Since Monday morning, Ms. Kelly, the 37-year-old news anchor with Fox News, has been reporting from the floor of the Democratic convention in Denver. Her channel's riser is located between the delegations from New Mexico and Guam.
"Guam in on the floor," said Ms. Kelly. "Rhode Island is in the nose bleeds. How does this happen? They told me, it's because they went for Barack Obama and Rhode Island went for Hillary."
"They are so excited to be on the floor," she added. "They asked for a shout-out on the air, and they got it. They came over like 10 times and said thank you, thank you. This is a big week for Guam."
And a big week for Ms. Kelly. In addition to reporting in prime time from the floor of the convention, she is providing political analysis for various other Fox News shows, and anchoring the 5 p.m. hour alongside Bill Hemmer, with whom she regularly co-anchors the morning news show America's Newsroom. ("I always say that Bill is my TV husband, and I married well," said Ms. Kelly.)
When The Observer caught up with Ms. Kelly recently in the green room at the Fox News skybox inside the Pepsi Center, she had just finished an appearance on The O'Reilly Factor. Despite the hectic schedule, Ms. Kelly showed no signs of slowing down.
"This is my first convention," said Ms. Kelly. "The energy is palpable. It doesn't matter what your party affiliation is, just being around these people who care so much about process and their country--on the floor in particular--it's contagious. The sheer excitement. I think it's good for the human spirit just to be in the middle of all that positive energy. I look forward to seeing the same next week in St. Paul."
The Observer wondered how Ms. Kelly could hear anything when reporting from the floor during particularly raucous and noisy moments of the convention.
Ms. Kelly reached into her purse and pulled out a pair of TV earpieces, which had been designed especially for her work in Denver. The devices allow her to communicate with the control room and, at the same time, dampen the external hubbub.
"You have to go to the ear doctor," said Ms. Kelly. "You get these molds. I have small ear canals, they tell me. So it's even harder for me to get these things in my ears."
"You've also got the Janet Jackson headset," she continued. "I think it makes you look like you have a big mole right on the side of your face. In another life, at college and during my law school days, I used to teach aerobics. We used to wear the Janet Jackson headsets. Back then I thought they were really cool."

How come anyone comment about what former President Clinton said about 16 years ago he was criticive been too young and not having any experiences.
That comparison can't be relate to Senator Obama because President Clinton was a former Governor for many years.
Are we affraid to tell the reality and to expose the untruth.
Geez Louise. The excitement from that convention was contagious. But, when you keep slamming the sitting president I just think thats rude. Why did'nt he just stick to the statistics? I want something more than just how terrible our nation is. The man was the first president to have 2 wars going on at the same time and if you ask me the radical countries of the world look at that and say to themselves I don't want that kind of force used against us so maybe Bush has quelled the ideas of some radicals. I look for Obama to weaken our nation enough for the next strong republican to fix!
I also think the excitement is contagious. I also agree that the participants need to worry about the agenda of their nominee and not worry about what has been. Aren't they always saying "A vote for Obama will stop the same old thing that has been going on for 8 years." They are always saying that their nominee is "about" making sure that people have the "opportunity" for a good education, access to health care, equal employment". The key word is "opportunity" and everyone in our great country has that opportunity. But...their promises all boil down to one thing...what their constituents want to make of themselves and the contribution that they are willing to make for the next generation.
Most of the people I have heard from the "average Joe" interviews is a "gimmee" attitude. Not only, "gimmee", but bring it to me. They prefer to just sit back and wait until it is delivered!
AS A WOMAN AND A MOTHER, I AM PROUD OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT
WOMEN AND MOTHERS OF OUR TIMES HAVE ACHIEVED. NOTHING PLEASES
ME MORE THAN TO SEE THE SOARING HEIGHTS TO WHICH WE HAVE RISEN
COLLECTIVELY.
KNOWING THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A LOVING AND CARING MOTHER , I FIND
IT ABSOLUTELY APPALLING THAT GOV. SARAH PALIN WOULD LEAVE HER
FOUR MONTH OLD BABY WITH DOWN SYNDROME TO GO RUNNING AROUND
THE COUNTRY IN ORDER TO CAMPAIGN . NOR FOR ANY OTHER REASON . IT IS
VERY IMPORTANT THAT ANY CHILD AT THAT YOUNG AND TENDER AGE NEED
THEIR MOTHER'S WARM AND LOVING CARE DURING THESE BONDING YEARS.
NEITHER NANNY NOR NURSE CAN PROVIDE THE LOVING ATTENTION OF A CARING
MOTHER . I CERTAINLY HOPE SHE DOES NOT INTEND TO HAUL THIS YOUNG CHILD
ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. IS SHE SO AMBITIOUS AND HUNGRY FOR THE SPOTLIGHT
THAT SHE WOULD ALLOW SENATOR MC CAIN AND OTHERS TO CONVINCE HER TO
NEGLECT HER FIVE CHILDREN AT THIS POINT OF TIME IN THEIR LIVES WHEN THEY
NEED HER MOST ? I AM SURE SHE IS AWARE THAT THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL
POSITION IS VERY DEMANDING WITH NUMEROUS TRAVELING COMMITMENTS TO
FULFILL . WHICH MEANS TIME AWAY FROM HER CHILDREN. I KNOW THAT SHE IS
USED TO BEING IN THE LIME LIGHT, BUT A TRUE LOVING PARENT WOULD NOT
PLACE POLITICS FIRST BEFORE HER CHILDREN. SHE IS A YOUNG WOMAN AND
CAN STILL REACH HER POLITICAL GOALS IN LIFE WITHOUT NEGLECTING HER
CHILDREN. SHE MAY PLAN TO HAVE OTHER PEOPLE CARE FOR THEM, BUT HER
YOUNG ONES NEED HER TO TUCK THEM IN BED AT NIGHT. THEY NEED HER TO
HELP THEM WITH THEIR HOMEWORK . THESE ARE PRECIOUS TIMES THAT CAN
NEVER BE RECLAIMED. UNLIKE THE SINGLE MOMS WHO ARE FORCED TO WORK ,
GOV. SARAH PALIN HAS A CHOICE OF DISTANCING HERSELF FROM HER CHILDREN .
I FIND IT STRANGE THAT A "HOCKEY MOM", WHO HAS A SON ON HIS WAY TO IRAQ,
DOES NOT HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OR INTEREST OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN FORIEGN
AFFAIRS. THIS HAS BEEN FOREMOST IN ALL OUR MINDS SINCE 9/11/01.
IT IS CRYSTAL CLEAR THAT SENATOR MC CAIN DOES NOT HAVE HER INTERESTS AT
HEART. ONLY TO USE HER FOR HIS OWN POLITICAL GAINS. HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW
HER . SEN. MC CAIN MAY BE WILLING TO CAST COMMON SENSE TO THE WIND, BUT
DURING THESE VERY TROUBLING TIMES, WE CAN NOT AFFORD GAMBLING WITH OUR
LIVES WITH A SIMPLE ROLL OF THE DICE.
I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT ANY WOMAN COULD CHEER AND BE HAPPY FOR SUCH A "SURPRISE"
CANDIDATE IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. SOME SAY IT'S A JOKE. I SAY IT'S AN INSULT TO
MOTHERHOOD AND TO THE WOMEN OF THE WORLD THAT GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN WOULD
SELL HERSELF SO CHEAP AT THIS POINT OF TIME IN ORDER TO SATISFY HER OWN SELFISH
AMBITIONS.
SINCERELY,
A LOVING MOM
