Now Leading the Brooklyn Delegation in the City Council ...

Courtesy of Bill De Blasio

The 16 members of the Brooklyn City Council delegation - the Council's largest - are now accepting nominations for the position of delegation leader. The term is up for the current leader, Eric Dilan, although he is not prevented from running for the mostly ceremonial position again.

The position had previously been held simultaneously by Bill de Blasio and Al Vann, back when Brooklyn Democrats were somewhat less cohesive than they are now.

I trust the previous comment is a joke? The Council Lady from the 35th district thought SHE should have been the borough chair last year. Speaker? Hah!

Tish is Great, who better than her? Mealy? Vinny Gentile?. Brooklyn Delegation needs some good leadership, not another Erik Dilan crying for the Job.

The position is not as you say "mostly ceremonial". The delegation chair becomes part of the Speaker's steering committee as well as part of the budget negotiation team. The delegation chair also has a say in which way delegation funds are allocated.

Since when does a blog go blog on it's own inane comments? Tish James can only expect to be a senior member, only because she was lucky getting time from the late James Davis' unexpired term. What blarney!

May as well bring back Lew Fidler. He's been running the delegation all this time anyway. And he's one of the few grown-ups in the group.
