Katie Couric to Senator Hillary Clinton: "Do You Pop Vitamins?"
There have been more than 25 presidential debates already this political season, hosted by FOX, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, and Univision. But to date, CBS News has yet to sponsor a single showdown.
Last night, however, viewers who would like to see Katie Couric questioning the leading presidential candidates on a big stage, got the next best thing: Katie Couric questioning Hillary Clinton on 60 Minutes.
What did Ms. Couric ask?
Over the course of a lengthy back-and-forth, among other questions, Ms. Couric asked if Ms. Clinton popped vitamins, whether she liked Barack Obama, if she felt responsible for a deficit "caused largely by a war" she had authorized, what she was like in high school, and did her teenage classmates really call her Miss Frigidaire?
Herewith, a transcript of the interchange, courtesy of CBS:
KATIE COURIC: How do you do it? I mean, the satellite interviews, the speeches, the travel, the debates, the schmoozing, the picture taking, 24 7.
HILLARY CLINTON: I do it because I really believe in what I'm doing.
KATIE COURIC: I knew you were going to say that.
HILLARY CLINTON: Well, but it's true.
KATIE COURIC: But I'm talking about pure stamina.
HILLARY CLINTON: Pure stamina. I have a lot of stamina and I have a lot of resilience.
KATIE COURIC: Having said that, do you pop vitamins? Do you mainline coffee?
HILLARY CLINTON: I take-- I take vitamins. I-- I drink tea, not coffee anymore. I have really stopped drinking diet drinks. Because I found that they gave you a jolt, but they weren’t good over the long run. I used to drink a lot of them. I drink tons of water. Just as much water as I can possibly drink.
HILLARY CLINTON: My two secrets to staying healthy-- wash your hands all the time. And, if you can't, use Purell or one of the sanitizers. And the other is hot peppers. I eat a lot of hot peppers. I-- for some reason started doing that in 1992 and I swear by it.

Katie Couric's interview of Hillary Clinton was just as lame as anyone could have expected. With the race for the Democratic nomination reaching a critical turning point, aren't we past what Hillary -- or any of the candidates -- did in high school or what their nick names were. I am only surprised that Katie didn't ask Hillary about her first kiss. As usual, her interview was an insult to the candidate and to the American people.
Katie Couric's interview with Senator Clinton was an absolute joke and was probably the most unprofessional interview I have seen in my 28 years of life. Did Katie Couric realize that she was speaking to a possible Presidential candidate? I know this has been said before, but why did a prestigious show such as "60 Minutes" bring on the bumbling, superficial, asinine Katie Couric on their team? Katie Couric interview with Hillary Clinton is a disgrace to "60 Minutes".
After watching both the Obama interview and the Clinton interview, I feel that "60 Minutes" needs to do a couples things.
-First, they need to apologize to Hillary Clinton for making her sit through the interview with Katie Couric.
-Second, they should ask Barack Obama to sit through an interview with Katie Couric just to be fair... though I am sure a person as intelligent as Obama would turn that down.
-Third, they need to have Steve Kroft reinterview Hillary Clinton or basically redo the interview with anyone besides Katie Couric.
-Fourth and final, CBS News simply need to cut Katie Couric from "60 Minutes" and also fire the person who approved the questions that were going to be asked to Hillary Clinton.
Ah, yes, another fine piece of journalism from CBS. Do us a favor, CBS, and stick to entertaining old people, and get out of the news business completely. Christ.
The Katie Couric interview with Hillary Clinton was downright embarrassing. 'What Vitamins Do You Take'.? Geez, I thought I was watching a college sorority interview session. When is cbs going to cut their losses with Katie ? She just never delivers, and Lord knows she's had enough practice at the public's expense. A terrible moment for women in media everywhere.
Umm...you remember...that one time...you said "I don't feel no ways tired"....remember?...that was AWESOME!!!
I would like to know how alleged news stations report "results" of a primary election when less than 20% of the votes are reported. Would you please explain this please. How does the "news" declare a winner when less than a quarter of the votes are in, let alone tallied?
Thank you.
the interview was okay.. I mean it's good that Couric inject some simple questions that we also need to know...
